Best Websites for Steampunk Fashion and Tips

Steampunk is a fashion statement, a genre of fiction, and a way of life for many people.  Inspired by Victorian and Edwardian elements, the literary steampunk world is one where steam and spring-propelled things are used instead of electric ones, and the past, present, and future collide in a fascinating and beautiful aesthetic result.

Steampunk Fashion
I’m not sure if this is the best way to get to all of G.D. Falksen’s information.  In fact, I know it’s not, because he has his own website, but he posted this handy dandy guide to dressing steampunk, and therefore this post, an entry on livejournal, wins the top spot.  I’ll give you the link to this very spot on the internet, but feel free to check out G.D. Falksen’s personal website, where you can learn all about him.

Boneflowers

Boneflowers
Boneflowers is actually retail shop in San Francisco, but you can shop online at the Boneflowers etsy site.  For handmade clothing and jewelry, and some of the choicest vintage clothing, this is a good place to go.  If you’re ever in the San Fransisco you should definitely check out the live and in person shop, too.

Steam Punk Junk

Steam Punk Junk
Another find on etsy, this shop offers parts for you to make your own steampunk stuff, as well as choice stuff that’s made from said parts.  The site you see above is Steam Punk Junq.  The site where you can buy the stuff to make your own creations is Steam Punk Junk.  Get it straight, people.  Honestly, though, this is one of the best places to go for bits.

The Steampunk Facebook Page

Steampunk Facebook Group
This is the Facebook page dedicated to all things Steampunk.  For events, new websites, trends, and just general friendship and conversation, check this page to meet like-minded souls.

The Steampunk Workshop

Steampunk Workshop
A site run by Jake and Meredith, here you’ll find how-tos for all sorts of steampunk projects.  The site is informative, entertaining, and well done.  You can also find information about music, events, and other steampunk-related goings on on their page.

Steampunk Jewellery

steampunkjewellreyuk
This is probably the most well-stocked steampunk jewelry store on the web.  If I’m wrong, please let me know.  Miss Ladybird has some truly beautiful things on her site, even if the lovely frames she puts around each photo makes it a little hard to see what you’re seeing.  Her descriptions more than make up for it.

Brass Goggles

Brass Goggles
The self-proclaimed “lighter side of Steampunk” site has many tidbits of information, as well as some super fun features.  For instance, you can use the Steampunk Name Generator to find out your steampunk name.  Mine is Right Honourable Genevieve Miller.  There is also a forum where you can participate in all sorts of discussions regarding the world of steampunk.

Clockwork Couture

Clockwork Couture
After a few minutes on this site, I felt a strong inclination to spend a lot of money.  This site features some gorgeous steampunk clothing and accessories, and the prices aren’t as outrageous as some of the other sites out there.  They are, as they say, a clothing house that “sits on the edge of time.”
